The media center strives to foster an environment that promotes academic achievement, creativity, unique thinking, independence and responsibility. The media center is committed to creating an environment that nurtures and empowers all learners to use information accurately and effectively.
Goals & Objectives:
· The library media specialist will collaborate with teachers, the literacy coach and volunteers to create a plan for year-round reading incentives, programs and fundraisers that will enrich and energize regular literacy instruction.
· The media center will work to ensure access and usage of existing resources by the learning community.
· The library media specialist will use the outcomes from collection analyses along with curriculum units and requests from the community to improve the collection.
· The library media specialist, along with the library media technology task force, will direct our school community towards more ecologically sound practices.
Educational Philosophy & Goals
My eight years of teaching at the elementary level has built a strong background for becoming a teacher/librarian. My main goal in the role of library media specialist is to create strong collaboration between grade levels and the media center to support and enhance the school’s curriculum to improve student achievement.
In the media center I will share my skills, strengths and interests with the entire school community. As a library media specialist I intend to:
· Teach information literacy skills
· Bring my love of reading to the school community and foster reading for pleasure to its learners.
· Make the media center a warm and inviting place for all. A place that fosters learning and achievement.
· Share my technology skills with the school community and continue to learn and share new technology skills.
· Support the teaching staff with relevant, current and accurate lessons and activities.
· Collaborate effectively with all grade levels and departments.
· Use my teaching skills and strong classroom management system to support and help the learning of students.
· Maintain a professional and organized facility that has access for the entire school community.
